It is a well-known fact the Western Australia has a good amount of skate juice in their water supply. There are many famous world-class shredders that have come out of the countries biggest state, but there are also those names, which are yet to reach every household. Scott Hetherington is one of them. He was first brought to our attention during the past couple of year’s Am Series. He has great taste in tricks and has more pops than the Great Father’s Day Picnic. On top of having skills for days, he is on hell of a nice guy, which makes every trick just that much better doesn’t it? After a little nudge last year, Scott got filming with Benjamin McCormick* and this little puppy rocked up in my inbox just after New Year’s Day: stoked. Oh yeah and I think the intro will have you in stiches. Everyone who has seen it so far has smiled for days.

Who will be the next Scott Hetherington discovered in your town? Who knows, but you can come and see them emerge (or emerge amongst them) during the 2013 Nike SbA Am Series. Belconnen (ACT) kicks off this weekend and for the rest of the dates check out the info page.

*Ben McCormick aka McNeb co-produced Figure 8 in late 2011. Have a gander at the promo.

Under the Radar synopsis: In every state and territory, in every city and town there are one, two or maybe even three polished rippers you have never heard of. Part of the beauty of traveling within skating is that you stumble across these people before they have had magazine, internet or video coverage. We feel it is time that we had a video-based platform in Australia that reveals these heads to the masses. This is why we have invented the video regular called ‘Under the Radar’: it is a means of paying homage to these underground shredders.
