Learn to Skateboard – HUBS

The SbA (Skateboarding Australia) Hubs are a collective approach to building the relevance and popularity of skateboarding in Australia.

SbA works closely with the local interests to collaborate on regular, ongoing skateboarding activity that orbits around a variety of skateparks and locations within each Hub region.

The main activity within the Hubs is the StreetWise clinics, taught by dedicated skateboarders within the local scenes, which are all about getting beginners into skateboarding and developing the skills of those already riding. Out of the skatepark, our Cruiser clinics at scenic location share the joy of rolling as a means of transport.

Understanding the more advanced skateboarders are into competition and documentation, the Hubs cater for this subculture with events such as the technical flat ground elimination game aptly named S.K.A.T.E, as well as Best Trick competitions on iconic obstacles within the skatepark. SbA works with the local skate shops to give prizes away at these events, simultaneously promoting supportive retailers. Not forgetting the soldiers behind the lens, aspiring videographers are given paid gigs to chronicle the talent within the Hubs while showcasing their craftsmanship.

Thanks to the Australian Sports Commission and the forward-thinking Councils nationwide, the SbA Hubs create jobs and opportunities in skateboarding that previously never existed. Interested in having a Hub in your region? Email skateboardingaus@gmail.com
